Legislation and Procedure for Disposing of Contaminated Water

In order that the water used in the washing of the parts tested by penetrating liquid can be discarded, it must comply with the legislation in force in the area where the plant that uses the test is located. In the State of São Paulo Decree 8468 of 08/09/76 is applied, which regulates Law 997 of CETESB, in articles 18 to 19A, and Resolution CONAMA Resolution No. 20 of June 18, 1986, in article 21. The waste must be characterized in accordance with NBR 10004, in the case of water contaminated with penetrating penetrating liquid this waste is class II (non-inert waste). All waste generated is considered treatable by environmental environmental agencies. For the disposal to be carried out, it is necessary that the interested party is in possession of the waste "letter of acceptance which will be issued by a reprocessing company, landfill or incinerator that has the release of the environmental agency of the State. With the letter of acceptance, the "CADRI" is requested from the environmental agency, which is an authorization for disposal of waste at the requested location.

Procedure:

For contaminated water:
We suggest as routine for treatment the steps identified below:
For 1000ml of solution:
Add:
- 50ml of 5% Lime solution.
- 50ml of 10% Aluminum Sulfate solution
- 15ml of 0.5% polyelectrolyte solution
Wait for 30 minutes.
Pass through a filter press or drying bed
For aerosol cans:
Empty cans should be punctured at their valve to remove the gas, the valve drawn out and the inside washed out. A can goes to landfill or recycling and the liquid waste is treated as described above.
