Procedimentos para Utilização do Corpo de Provas Comparativo

Due to the large number of doubts regarding the use of the JIS 10 and 20μm comparative test specimen, it is necessary to demonstrate the correct usage technique according to the standards in force.

According to JIS Z 2343:

Item 6.3

Paragraph 4 - To test the received penetrant, different penetrants shall be compared by applying them on each surface of the pair of comparative panels. Compare the indications generated by the test conducted under the identical conditions

Paragraph 5 - To verify the adequacy of a procedure, the same penetrant should be applied to the pair of comparative reference panels. Compare the indications generated by the test under different conditions.

Item 7.1

Penetrant Testing: The test penetrant in use shall be checked by comparison periodically in conjunction with a reference penetrant. The reference penetrant is a separately reserved batch in a clean container for a specified time.

According to PETROBRAS N 2370:

Item 6.2.5.1

The test sensitivity shall be determined for the set of penetrant materials by performing the test on a comparator block described in JIS Z 2343 or ISO 34523, and the sensitivity level shall be classified according to table 2.

Item 6.2.5.2

For the determination of sensitivity, a sample from the lot shall be applied to one part of the comparator block and the result compared with that obtained from the other part of the block using a reference sample. The result is accepted when it has a sensitivity equal to or greater than the reference sample.

Item 6.2.5.3

In the absence of a reference sample, a photographic standard of equal or greater sensitivity should be used and compared with the result of the batch tested. The result is accepted when the quantity of indications is equal to or greater than that given in the photographic standard
